Contact support
Include your device model, iOS version, and Margin version when relevant. Avoid including private reading or notes unless necessary to explain the issue.
Start a read
Choose a reading time on the Read tab. Use the original starter, add a physical book, or paste permitted text into your bookshelf. Blank lines separate passages. The app accepts up to 100,000 characters per pasted item.
How the timer works
The timer continues while your phone is locked, so you can read a physical book. Finishing early saves elapsed time. Returning late records no more than the duration you chose. Reflection-writing time does not add to your reading total. An unfinished session can be resumed after relaunch.
Restore Margin Plus
Open Settings, choose Margin Plus, and tap Restore purchase. Use the Apple account that originally bought it. If Apple is waiting for purchase approval, Plus unlocks once approval arrives.
Reading questions
Apple Intelligence is optional. A compatible device with the on-device model available can generate a question about the passage. If it cannot, use the standard question or save a thought of your own.
Export or erase your data
A free full data export is in Settings. It includes your books and reflections in JSON format. Margin Plus also exports a formatted journal. Erase all reading data permanently removes the local library; copies you exported or backed up are separate. Removing one book preserves its reading history.
Reading instead of scrolling
Place Margin on your Home Screen where your feed usually sits. You can also use margin://read in an Open URLs action in Apple Shortcuts. Margin does not monitor or block apps.
